Catholic identity
Our Catholic identity is reflected in the ways we bring a Catholic perspective, human dignity and Catholic social teachings to teaching and learning and daily life of the school.
Inspired by St Mary MacKillop and her saying “Never see a need without doing something about it”, as a faith learning community, there is a genuine sense of welcome, equity and service for others and care for the environment.
Students are taught about local and international social justice issues and the school participates in numerous annual projects to support outreach organisations including Project Compassion, the Missions and St Vincent de Paul.
The Mary MacKillop Club
The school established the Mary MacKillop Club with the motto "Never see a need without doing something about it."
The club calls students to action Jesus' call to serve others. The club discerns local, national and global needs and works with students and community to meet these needs, for example: food or blankets for the poor, raising money for cancer research or disasters and taking action to support disadvantaged Australians and families in global communities.
St Mary of the Angels Parish
Our connection to the St Mary of the Angels Parish leads us to know Jesus better.
Parishioners are invited to spirituality sessions held at the school. The school and parish collaborate for special events for the community including
- parish fete in May each year where students perform items and assist on stalls
- school liturgies and masses celebrated e.g. induction of school leaders and feast days
- World Day of Prayer, an ecumenical reflection celebrated with the wider community
- reciprocal visits by students from St Joseph’s College Toowoomba and Mary MacKillop College Highfields
